Bad 'Roo

 I knew he'd tangle with someone less tolerant than me.  It was just a matter of time.

To tell you the truth, the little fellow was beginning to grow on me.  I hope we see him again.

Ships in Baltimore

I was still busy dodging and weaving around the RV with that crazy 'roo.  Bouncing and boxing, that is all he seems to know, what sort of charachter is this?

Phil and Chris went to see a few ships in the harbour.

 The crews quarters were far from luxurious, nor was there a lot of head room down there.

 The sick bay was the scariest part, with a diagram of how to do a simple amputation on display.  That seems to have been their most common "fix", and one can only imagine the horrible conditions down there in which it all happened.  Below is a bunk in the sick bay.

 The Sub is also open for visitors to spend as much time as we wanted to crawl around and fiddle with all the dials and things.  Winter is their quiet time so we had things to ourselves.

This is my second time preparing this post, I totally lost the first one...where does it go???  I will stop here to avoid another mishap.

Baltimore B&O Rail Museum

Trains and planes...well, it was actually a day of trains and ships. We had a brief stop in Baltimore Maryland after leaving the wonderful hospitality of the Virginians. Perhaps we should have planned for more time in Baltimore because there was a lot to see, but we've saved a few sights for next time.

Phil and Chris went to see the museums. They are a little worried that I'll misbehave again, so I had to stay in the RV with the 'roo. All he ever wants to do is box and spar, and they won't let me have a pin.

 This museum has one of the largest collections of locomotives in the US.  They were nicely displayed and we had to rush a bit to try and see as much as possible as we only allowed half a day here.  You are all wondering why we have time constraints on our long holiday, right??

 Outside there was a caboose, an appropriate place to stop our discussion of trains today.

Hi from sunny Florida

How can they say I am lazy and slothful?!  I'm cuddly.

We had a great visit to Baltimore followed by an interesting drive down the east coast through Maryland, Deleware, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and on to Orlando, Florida.  Last week we spent time at some of the Walt Disney World Theme parks and then we went to a Parrothead party and a Jimmy Buffett concert Saturday night.  Of course we have photos and we will get to a bit better internet connection soon and post something a bit better.  Just wanted to let you all know we are alive and well.

Buster

Happy Australia Day!

Today was a little highlight for Buster and he is so excited he can't write.  We went through a town called "Bear".  Sadly we were unable to get any photos of Buster next to a "Bear" sign, and he is upset to say the least. 

He would like to go out for a beer and celebrate Australia Day with us and our new kangaroo tonight.  Buster and the 'roo are getting along ok except for the boxing thing. I really have never seen such an unathletic and slothful animal.  Cheers!

Washington DC

We spent a weekend in DC having a quick look at sights which we didn't have time to see last time we were in town.  It was really cold with a fresh layer of snow on everything.

The US Capitol is the "house of the people" but of course people aren't allowed in there anymore.  The visitor center is closed on Sundays so a look at the rotunda is on our list for the next visit.

 Even though it was cold, there is still something special about walking on the mall surrounded by all the monuments and museums.

We popped into the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History (our favorite) and compared toothy grins with the dinosaurs.

The Smithsonian's Museum of American History was recently closed for 2 years of renovations so we allowed a large portion of our time for this museum alone.  This train is one exhibit that has been here since the museum opened...I think they had to build that part of the building around the train.

 In the National Gallery of Art we were able to view the only Leonardo Da Vinci painting in the US as well as a number of Rembrandts and other masters. Those guys could really paint.

In one final escape from the cold, we stopped at the Botanical Gardens.

We really like visiting Washington DC and highly recommend it to anyone headed this way.

Another exercise nightmare

Phil returns from Australia with a little sparring mate for me.  Great.

Why can't they just leave me alone and forget about this fitness caper?  What I need now is a pin or something to let the air out of this crazy little 'roo.
